How busy am I at the moment? I’ve now got all my essay and asignment questions and I have only 5 weeks to do 3 essays and 2 assignments.
I’ve nearly completed one essay - a piece of reflexive writing and I’m planning my next essay. I have to write about a personality disorder, fully evaluate the symptoms and cause and decide if it is a disorder or just an excuse for bad behaviour. I love stuff like this which is why I am probably doing a science degree like Psychology.
Anyway, this is what I have chosen, Histrionic Personality Disorder - it’s fascinating. It is a behaviour presented as excessive emotionality and attention-seeking, often beginning in early adulthood.
‘They may dress provacatively or exaggerate illnesses in order to gain attention. They also tend to exaggerate friendships and relationships, believing that everyone loves them. They are often manipulative.’ (refs)
Here’s some other definitions:
- is uncomfortable in situations in which he or she is not the center of attention;
- interaction with others is often characterized by inappropriate sexually seductive or provocative behavior;
- displays rapidly shifting and shallow expression of emotions;
- shows self-dramatization, theatricality, and exaggerated expression of emotion;
- considers relationships to be more intimate than they actually are.
Character weaknesses can be defined as:
- praise-hungry
- seductive
- over-dramatic
- shallow
- self-centered
- impressionistic
- attention-seeking
(refs)
”People with disorder often come across as “fake” or shallow in their interpersonal relationships with others.”(ref)
“They are overly dramatic, and minor situations can cause wild swings in emotions. They easily become bored with normal routines, and crave new, novel situations and excitement. In relationships, they form bonds quickly, but the relationships are often shallow, with the person demanding increasing amounts of attention. ” (ref)
- Referential — belief that certain gestures, comments, song lyrics, or passages in printed material are specifically intended for you or reference you in some way
- Grandiose — belief that you are an extremely important person, an invaluable member of society, and possess or make some special unrecognized talent or contribution
“Most Personality Disordered people are prone to anger. Their bottled-up anger is always sudden, raging, frightening and without apparent provocation by an outside agent…These people prefer to direct their anger at people who are meaningless to them, people whose withdrawal will not constitute a threat to their precariously balanced personality…These pendulum-like emotional swings are common. Anger is the reaction to injustice (perceived injustice, it does not have to be real), to disagreements, to inconvenience. ” (ref)
It’s interesting stuff. The thing is, people who suffer these symptoms can be in any walk of life. You probably know someone with a personality disorder without realising it - in fact they can suffer from it without realising it, and in fact think that they are the ones who are normal!
I love this subject.
So anyway, if you see me anywhere online tell me off and tell me to get on with my work please
Oh please don’t worry though - I may be busy but I can still handle my orders and emails. If you want anything doing - ask a busy woman
So if you have ordered from me, don’t worry - it’s all in hand ![]()

Oh brilliant! When I was doing my therapist training (back in the old days lol) I studied Paranoia .. the human psyche is so interesting. I had to give it up after a few years though, too empathic - but learnt so much.
I would love to read your essay when it’s finished Anna… I’ll show you my study case if you will show me yours hehehee
As for multi-tasking Anna - some people can do it, some can’t
Yeah, I’ll pass it over when I’m done with it. It’s fascinating stuff.
Well i will keep an eye out for you online and if i see you, i will get hold of you and bend you over my knee
xx
I went to school with a metric shit load of girls and guys who seemed to display half or more of those symptoms.
Wonder how many still do.
Best of luck girl and I too will be keeping my eyes open!:-)
Sounds like a very interesting topic as well!
