Dentist’s habits, gurning and panty pics
So there I am, lay rigid on the dentist’s chair, trying to relax, but all my muscles are tense as the dentist lines up the drill, I’m really hoping he has washed his hands after using a proper loo….
Urinating dentist struck off list
A dentist has been struck off the register for urinating in his surgery sink and using medical tools to clean his ears and nails. The General Dental Council found Alan Hutchinson, 51, guilty of unhygienic practices at the Branch Road Dental Practice in Batley, West Yorkshire.
Mr Hutchinson had admitted not routinely wearing gloves, but denied all the other charges.
He said he did not always wear gloves due to a latex allergy.
‘Too embarrassed’
Chairman of the committee, Colin Smith, said it was satisfied Mr Hutchinson had used dental instruments to clean his fingernails and ears, replacing them on a tray alongside sterilised instruments.
But he said, the committee was satisfied that these events were occasional rather than frequent.
Dental nurse Claire Pygott had told the hearing she could smell urine coming from a sink at the surgery.
She told the hearing she was too embarrassed to speak to her employer about it.
“How do you tell your employer that you’ve just seen him urinate in the sink?” she said.
“It was a very delicate matter . . .I didn’t think I could bring it up in front of him without being sacked.”
Mr Hutchinson had claimed he had been cleaning his teeth at the sink as part of his normal routine.
I really wish I’d seen this article after my visit to the dentist.
I do wish dentists would do a quick nose inspection before treating a patient. I could see a couple of crusties up there jiggling about and I was praying they were anchored firmly as they were directly above my open mouth. The things you think of when you have a gob full of dental implements and you’re trying not to think of the DRILLING.
Anyway, my temporary crown came unstuck after a couple of hours on a bit of chocolate and a bit more of my ancient filling fell out (absolutely nothing to do with a tasty chewy bit of delicious Thornton’s toffee), so I’m constantly fiddling with one broken molar and its stumpy neighbour so much that I could enter a gurning competition and come a respectable 3rd.
Not me - honest
Good news on the essay/assignment front - I’m doing really well and producing tons of work that hopefully will actually be good work and not crap work. It’s really hard to read your own work critically, you tend to skim it because you know it so well. I usually get 2.1 or 1sts for my essays and assignments so I’m hoping I can keep the standard up. I sometimes wonder why I’m doing a science degree at my age but as everyone says it’s something that I can acheive, and it’ll never be taken away from me. Degrees aren’t just a measure of intelligence, they are also a measure of commitment and shows a level of application and determination.
I’m now planning what I’ll do after my degree. I’ve been learning and gaining qualifications for so long now that I can’t imagine not learning something. I’m seriously considering a Phd after this degree, or maybe I’ll take a couple of years out and do some lighter college stuff as a break. Dunno yet. We’ll see.
Oooh, as well as appearing on Anjel’s blog, you’ll also see a bit of me on someone else’s blog soon, keep an eye out

Edit: Oooh, I’m up there already, make sure you go and vote for me please (if you don’t mind).
PS I’m planning some more galleries on my site and obviously loads more pics on here too - I just need to get past this essay/exam period. I’ll be done by May 17th and then I’m all yours xx
